National Missile Defense, Ground-based Radar System

Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

The National Missile Defense (NMD) Ground-based Radar System includes the Ground-Based Radar-Experimental Antenna (GBR-X), the Ground-Based Radar-Test Antenna (GBR-T), and the Ground-Based Radar-Prototype Antenna (GBR-P). SGH served as consultant to the U.S. Government to review and evaluate the design of the GBR-X and the GBR-T antennas.  In our evaluation we identified problem areas and developed solutions, most of which were incorporated into the design. SGH also developed detailed finite element models of antenna components and the total antenna system to predict the dynamic performance.
